The collective hovers at the white mark on its bar: the centre for the MH-6, higher for the heavier airframes. A touchdown faster than the aircraft's limit (4 m/s and 15° of tilt for the Little Birds) is a crash. The cyclic commands a rate: deflect and the aircraft keeps rolling or pitching until you centre it, as in the game. Tap and centre; do not hold deflection.
The chase view shows how the aircraft is sitting: the tilt of the rotor disc is the clearest picture of what the cyclic is doing. The cockpit puts you in the seat with a fixed sight on the nose line. The gunner view adds the weapons HUD, and the left mouse button fires. The map shows where you are, with an attitude indicator in the corner. C cycles views, as in the game.
Landscape swaps the grid for fields, hedges, trees and farms, generated from coordinates so it is the same every time. Trees and buildings are solid. Hills give the ground shape; every height is then above the ground beneath you, like a radar altimeter. The pads stay level and the corridor is always kept clear.
When a drill ends you get charts of what you actually flew, with your previous run faint behind it, plus a replay you can scrub and export as a video.
A free, unofficial helicopter trainer for Wardogs players that runs in the browser. It carries the game's whole helicopter roster, from the MH-6 to the Havoc. It is a practice tool for the control habits the game needs, not a copy of the game's engine. Inspired by Wardogs Flight School.
Start here: what to practise and how the trainer works.
Read the flying guide: controls for keyboard and mouse, HOTAS and controller, what the top pilots bind, and how to fly each drill.
Keyboard and mouse, or any stick or HOTAS the browser can see as a gamepad. A HOTAS made of several USB devices is read as one. Every key and axis is rebindable in Controls (the keyboard button, top right), and settings stay in this browser.
The flight model is still being tuned. If something flies differently from the game, tell us.
Thanks, that has been sent. Every note gets read.
