How to barrel‑roll land in Wardogs
A barrel‑roll landing trades speed for a quick stop right beside the zone. It is unforgiving, but it is the fastest way down once you have the basics.

When to use it
Gunship pilots use it to arrive fast and stop right on the spot, spending almost no time slow and exposed. It is not for beginners: master the flare and J‑hook first.
The recipe (keyboard & mouse)
- Approach at about 250 km/h, around 30 m up.
- Hover assist off. Set collective to neutral and do not press W/S during the roll.
- Hold roll + yaw the same way + pitch‑up together (e.g. E + D + Space to roll right).
- Take fine control at the end to level and cushion the touchdown.
HOTAS
Same sequence: neutral collective, then pitch‑up while rolling and yawing together. Map pitch‑up to a button you can hit instantly.
Common mistakes
- Hover assist on (fights you), or using W/S during the roll.
- Starting too low or too slow; starting too close.
- Practising it before the flare and J‑hook are automatic.
